Frequently asked questions
Answers to help you feel at ease.
Starting therapy brings up plenty of questions — about sessions, fees, privacy and what to expect. Here are the ones we hear most often.
Getting Started
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If something is weighing on you — stress, sadness, worry, a relationship, a big change, or simply feeling “not like yourself” — therapy can help. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit. Many people come to therapy to understand themselves better and build a healthier, more fulfilling life.
How do I schedule my first appointment?
Call (347) 938-3491, email miraclemoore2004@yahoo.com, or use the contact form. We will set up a brief consultation to talk about your needs and find a time for your first session.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a chance to get to know each other. We will talk about what brings you in, your background and your goals. You can share at your own pace, ask any questions you have, and leave with a sense of how we might work together.
Do you work with couples and families?
Yes. In addition to individual psychotherapy, we offer relationship and family counseling to help improve communication, work through conflict and strengthen connection.
Sessions & Therapy
How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals and needs. Some people find meaningful relief in a few months; others choose longer-term support for deeper work. We will review your progress together regularly and adjust the plan as needed.
How often will we meet?
Many clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum, then move to every other week as they progress. We will decide together what rhythm works best for you.
What types of therapy do you use?
Sessions draw from evidence-informed approaches such as trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral techniques, person-centered and strengths-based therapy, and solution-focused strategies — tailored to you rather than applied one-size-fits-all.
Do you offer mental health assessments?
Yes. A behavioral and mental health assessment helps clarify what you are experiencing and guides a personalized treatment plan. It is typically part of the first sessions.
Fees & Insurance
Do you accept insurance?
Please contact the office to discuss your insurance plan. We are happy to help you understand your options, including whether your plan offers out-of-network benefits for psychotherapy.
What are your fees?
Fees depend on the type and length of the session. Please call or email and we will share current rates and answer any payment questions during your consultation.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for advance notice if you need to cancel or reschedule so the time can be offered to someone else. Full details are shared before your first appointment.
Privacy & Telehealth
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy and is protected by law and professional ethics. There are a few legal exceptions — for example, if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others — which we will review with you at the start.
Do you offer telehealth sessions?
Yes. Telehealth psychotherapy is available through a secure video platform. Many clients enjoy the convenience of meeting from home or work, and you can combine online and in-person sessions.
What do I need for a telehealth session?
A private, quiet space, a reliable internet connection and a phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone. You will receive a secure link before your session.
